I've played since 2008, and I love old Maple. Everything about it makes me nostalgic, the music, the maps, even the old UI. Some people even say they miss the grind, that modern Maple is 'too easy'. And that is where I think you are wrong. If anything, old maple is too hard! It's a completely different experience and I had forgotten just how extremely slow it was to level up and make progress in it. It's frustrating to spend 3 hours grinding at slimes and green mushrooms you can hardly kill just to get from level 20-23.
There's not that many features, either. In fact, visiting servers like this is more of a walk down memory lane than it is a fun game you can really get into. Modern MapleStory, on the other hand, has a metric fuckton of things to do, various different playstyles, and of course, a quicker, more balanced EXP system. And although I do enjoy playing both, logging in to train on old Maple feels more like a chore; play for 5 hours to get from lvl 80-81, and I might not even get there because I could get burnt-out in between. Whereas on new Maple, I'm pretty much guaranteed to progress somewhere, even it's in making money or getting equips if not leveling up a few times. And about the whole 'old maple had a better community' shtick, summed it up perfectly: 'The only reason socializing was such a major part of the game is because, well, what the fuck else are you going to do while grinding on slimes and snails for hours on end with a dozen-odd people in the same map?' Again, to the people who complain new Maple is too easy; it isn't, it's just a more balanced and less boring version of old Maple.
I hope this doesn't piss anybody off, I love both versions, this is just my reasons for liking new MapleStory more, and why I find a lot of the hate toward the modern version corrupted; because it's tainted by nostalgia. Edit: changed some words. The reason a lot of people romanticize old maple is simply due to the fact that most of us were playing it as little kids, we did not know any better, back then an orange mushroom was so magical to us, that this is all we needed. Also kids are for more sociable, hence why back then you made so many connections with people, but nowadays, you can definitely socialize as much as you want, but most of us prefer doing our own thing.
Do i miss the social aspect of the game back then? Yes, but i am aware that we, the player base of today, are in fault. Do i miss having no content and progressing very slow? And that is the primary reason why people need to stop being so hung up on the notion of every problem with the game magically being fixed, a magical massive influx of new and old players happening, should Nexon revert the game back to an old version. The only reason people look back so fondly on the old days is because it was all new and interesting back then, and the only reason socializing was such a major part of the game is because, well, what the fuck else are you going to do while grinding on slimes and snails for hours on end with a dozen-odd people in the same map? And the only reason you had so many people in one map is because that was the most viable spot for grinding at that point. Yes, I'm talking about HHG1.
It was then as it is now, people congregate to the best grinding maps. And it's as you said, kids tend to be more sociable, kids are more prone to striking up conversation with random passerby. Now though, we've most all grown up and we mostly stick to our existing circles of friends for socializing most of the time. When you look past the nostalgia, because that's all it is, pre-bb was pretty stale and lackluster. All you had was grinding and maybe Zakum.
But that's a big maybe, for most people you only had grinding. There was, let's be honest, absolutely nothing else to do. The 'community' complaint comes up with every old game. Everybody romanticizes how the 'community' used to be, and then blames the game/developers for 'ruining' it with QOL improvements, expansions, etc. It seriously comes up in every single online multiplayer game that persists and is updated for years.
Those who complain forget that a game can change while the community can stay constant. Community becoming worse or less emphasized is due to one thing: the community becoming worse or placing less value ON community. We are the community, and the fault of us being bad is, not surprisingly, squarely on us. Universally, across every game. This is a big one for me. As someone who played MMOs more alone than with friends I already knew, I could see what the community at large was more easily.
It was garbage in almost all games where people are nostalgic about it. Like with runescape, you can't compare how friendly on average people are in modern vs old school. Old school community is just a step above league. In general, old school or old school private servers of mmos tend to bring back the worst parts of a game's community that had left long ago. It's not 100% nostalgia. Back then the grind was so hard that basically the top 50 people in each server knew and respected one another. All the lower level people had someone to look up to or someone they wanted to be like.
Nowadays things are so fast nobody knows who's who or what's what. You try to make friends with the person next to you and it turns out they do 50mil lines while you do 5mil lines and as a result there's nothing you can do together that won't make you feel useless.
I think people miss having level be #1 and equipment #2. It's 2017, who has time for that anymore? The positives are overwhelmingly in favor of modern maple if you look at everything objectively. Also, bring back 30man boss runs for blackmage please. Heck, I think pap even had a 10 man limit back in the day.
Hi there, Was just wondering if anyone knows where I could find a v62 trainer (specifically for use on MapleRoyals). I've searched quite extensively on google, and all the download links for trainers seem to be expired, as most of the threads are from 2010.
This would be very much appreciated, as I currently have uni and the grind is a real struggle Mapleroyals still works with wz edits and with that you can use some macros to make it automatic:) edit: the only thg is that the Gm(s) are very active. Mapleroyals still works with wz edits and with that you can use some macros to make it automatic:) edit: the only thg is that the Gm(s) are very activeI was trying to use Macro Recorder today, but the macro I recorded didn't seem to work. I'm completely new to this, but from what I gained looking at some forums, Maple might not recognize the input or something? I'd really appreciate any help/advice you could give me!:D I was just planning on a macro to walk back and forth a bit and cast mage ultimate, so should hopefully be quite hard for GM's to detect if I don't use hotspot maps. Dont mind if you are NOT at hotspots.
They will find you. Already tried this hahahaha.

They will find you. Already tried this hahahahaBut if I am simply using a Macro Recorder that emulates my movement when I do play, how are they going to track me down/distinguish me from people training normally? O.o Wouldn't the only way to tell be if I was afk (which I won't be most of the time) and they asked if I was botting, screenshotted and posted in forums? I was legitimately training for an hour or so yesterday and literally all I did was cast my Mage ultimate and occasionally rebuff. I don't think any.wz edits would be necessary (nor do I have any knowledge in that field haha:D) Is there some other way they can track people using macros?:/ -Edit -. I'm assuming your macro routine would be something like this (I'll use Henesys Hunting Ground 1 as an example): Clear bottom row, by using skill 1 or 2 times, moving to a bit, using skill again, starting from the rightmost end of the platform moving towards to left. Use some movement ability or climb a rope to get to platform 2 Clear platform 2 from left to right Climb to platform 3 Clear platform 3 from right to left Climb to platform 4 Clear platform 4 from left to right Drop down to starting area Repeat After about 3 iterations of this loop, it's quite obvious that you're using a macro to the human eye. If you want to be a tad stealthier, avoiding observations, you should probably choose a small-sized map to limit the complexity (and thus detection surface) of your macro.
I believe the server you're referring to commonly has 600+ players online, so chances are, they're not going to track you manually and they might instead have some sort of server-sided detection routine for this kind of thing, which notifies GMs of suspicious players in-game so they can check on them manually. In this case, you would be highly detectable unless you stayed at the keyboard to respond or created a very convincing auto-responder. If you want to avoid that we first need to look at your detection surface.
Your detection surface = the information that you send explicitly or implicitly send to the server (ex: implicit=when something was sent, explicit = the actual data that was sent). More information = more complexity = larger detection surface.

Information in this context means things like where you move, when you move there, how many times you've made this exact movement from old X/Y to new X/Y, etc. Their server would be looking for players performing a given set of tasks used during combat over and over again, with very similar intervals between each action. In addition, I noticed that there was a 'bot report' section on the forums, where people would create posts with screenshots of people botting and them repeatedly asking if the player was a bot with no response. This leads me to believe that the admins are relying on players to detect this rather than having detection methods as you discussed above.Perhaps, if they taking hacking seriously, their anti-hacking measures have more components than just that though.
You can work around player reports by setting up an auto responder to respond to any map chat/whisper by stopping for a few seconds and typing a whole bunch of random phrases in Swahili, and then continuing its normal routine. Based on the context of your sentence, I'm assuming you've had it work with other software but not MapleRoyals.
To me, that sounds like an OS privilege issue. If you run Macro Recorder as a standard user, it's trying to work with an elevated window (MapleRoyals). MapleRoyals won't accept any mouse/keyboard input from Macro Recorder this way, so you need to run your macro tool as admin. Ah yea that fixed it, I am a peasant haha. I'll just have to settle for micromanaging my botting I suppose:(.
Just thought I'd throw together a quick and simple tutorial on how to make a version.62 Maplestory Private Server. I haven't been on these forums in awhile, so i figured a lot of people need help. By the looks of it i'm correct.
So here you go. Its going to be very easy. I set one up in maybe 30 minutes or less depending what you have to download.
If u have to download a lot this will take more time. It seems kind of long but it is somewhat in-depth.

So here it goes. Step ONE: Things that needed to be downloaded.
(Required to download ALL) KiKi Localhost: MySQL Query Browser: MySQL Serv 5.0: Version.62 Repack: (This is ThePack coded by Moogra Wamp Server: Version 62 XML files: Java SE Development Kit (JDK) 6 Update 11: JCE Unlimited Strength Files: ADDED: Maplestory v62 setup: - Okay after you have all that downloaded, here's: Step Two:. Set up Wamp server. After installed, run the program. On the bottom right hand of your screen where the volume control is, you'll see the Wamp Server icon. Left click it and click 'Put online'. Then left click it once more and click start all services. And that's it for Wamp Server.
Step Three:. Install the Java SE Development Kit (JDK) 6 Update 11 that you should have already downloaded.
If not, download and install. After installing, open up the JCE Unlimited Strength Files that you also should have already downloaded, if not, do so now. Inside the JCE Unlimited Strength Files folder, There will be 4 files. Copy: legalpolicy.jar and USexportpolicy.jar.
Now place them in the corrosponding folders. Code: Repack Dist C: Program Files Java jre6 lib security C: Program Files Java jre6 lib ext C: Program Files Java jre6 lib C: Program Files Java jdk1.6.010 lib C: Program Files Java jdk1.6.010 jre lib C: Program Files Java jdk1.6.010 jre lib ext C: Program Files Java jdk1.6.010 jre lib securityOverwrite the old ones if the box pops up. DO NOT MESS THIS PART UP, follow the steps carefully And that is it for java, which is one of the more complicated steps. Step Four: Now to set up MySQL:. Install MySQL Server 5.0, which you should have downloaded. Then Install MySQL query Browser. Enter in the same password you used for the previous step.
If you didn't enter a password, simply leave it blank. Bone thugs n harmony crossroads mp3 downloads. In Query Browser, click file, then click open script.
Now find where you saved the repack and open up 'thepack.sql' which can be found in the SQL's folder. Execute 'thepack.sql'. Then, Execute the rest of the SQLs in that folder. Now your done with SQL set up. Step Five: Now we will be editing your.properties file in your source pack.
Go to your repack and find db.properties. Open it with notepad and enter in the correct MySQL Database information. This step is CRUCIAL to getting your server running correctly. DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING BESIDES THE PASSWORD FIELD. Enter the password you entered in when you set you the SQL server.
Save and close. Now open world.properties. Scroll all the way down to the bottom and you will see a place to enter in your ip. I am NOT showing you how to port forward, if you want to use your WAN IP you HAVE to port forward unless your don't have a router and you just use a modem. There are some guides already to show you how to port forward. So at the bottom of world.properties, enter in your hamachi IP or WAN IP (only if port forwarded) and this is where you can edit your server name and message to.
If you are just using this as a test server, just put 127.0.0.1 for the IP. Now open login.properties. You will see this: net.sf.odinms.world.host=localhost at the top. Leave it as localhost if you are using your WAN IP or 127.0.0.1 as an IP. If you are using hamachi, then replace 'localhost' with your hamachi ip. Now open channel.properties. You will see this: net.sf.odinms.world.host=localhost at the top.
Leave it as localhost if you are using your WAN IP or 127.0.0.1 as an IP. If you are using hamachi, then replace 'localhost' with your hamachi ip. And that's IT for properties files. Step Six: Now for the v62 XML files you downloaded eariler. Extract to desktop by right-clicking and clicking 'extract here'. After extracting to the desktop, rename the file 'wz'.
place in your repack where all the property files are. And that's all for wz files. Step Seven: Starting your brand new server.
Now you can do it by simply running 'starter.bat' and typing start. But i prefer doing it another way incase there are any errors you can see them. To do so, simply run in this order exactly. Code: launchworld.bat wait 5 seconds launchlogin.bat Wait 5 seconds launchchannel.bat- Setting up KiKi localhost:. Open up the KiKi file you should have downloaded already. Then open kiki.cfg in notepad. If you notice, there is already an IP there.
Leave it at that IP if it is just a test server. If not, then replace it with your WAN IP (if you port forwarded) or your hamachi IP if your using hamachi. Save and close. Now send that out to people to play! Made by Tomster of GzP, (Slurpee of Tutorialx) (also known as TheRealEpic from Ragezone).
